In the fall, we saw news stories about the severe drought throughout Colorado. Blue Mesa Reservoir was at such low levels that the remnants of the small town of Iola were emerging in shallows. The Colorado Sun visited with a Gunnison County rancher who lived in Iola as a boy. Read the complete story. Colorado’s spring snowstorms have eased the drought and it looks like Blue Mesa will be full this summer, with Iola deep underwater again.
